George Foster

“I paint like an 8 year old who disappoints parents.”

Based out of his shared Whitstable studio, George Foster grew up surrounded by clay and creativity, but for many years his artistic outlet was very much in the kitchen including at Wheelers, Whitstable and Seasalter favourite, The Sportsman.

Eventually curiosity got the better of him, and he began spending time at the potter’s wheel under the tutelage of his mum, renowned local ceramicist Carol Foster.

Now with over 10 years’ experience under his belt, George is best known for his vibrant use of contrasting colour, contemporary shapes, innovative glazes and playful transfers. With a loyal following, popular weekly classes and a host of commissions to his name, happily George’s ceramics have turned out better than his painting.

We are delighted to welcome George’s work to Craeft Canterbury and are stocking a unique selection of his signature buff & white stoneware with high fired glazes/underglaze decoration.
